For the uninitiated: The Growlanser/Langrisser franchise is a very obscure Tactical-RPG series that never became big in the Western world due to the lack of translators and interest from the Western publishers. Plus my alltime favourite artist Satoshi Urushihara
was responsible for the designs. And honestly: If you don't like his art, there must be something wrong with you and you better hire a psychologist. I always thought that the modern look of anime goes back to Satoshi Urushihara, next to Keiji Gotoh, Shingo Araki and Nobuteru Yuki. They are all artists who developed the more cartoony anime style from the 70's and made it more realistic through all these complex shadings and details.
Anyhow, I can't judge about the plot because I have only played the first 20 minutes. I paid like 48 for the whole game box.
The box is a little bit broken, but I don't mind this because the content is exactly what matters and I should be thankful that I ever got the opportunity to get this limited box, because it is very hard to get here in Germany. I should also mention that this game was the last project from the publisher Working Designs .... R.I.P. !
Yes, I know, this games is quite old and is from the year 2002. But that doesn't matter, because TO ME the game is NEW and I already love it. The box content is amazing by the way, it owns some cards, a soundtrack CD, a ring (???) and of course the game. The manuel isn't that bad either, it is almost like a mini artbook and you can sense that WorkingDesign put a lot of effort into the translation.
Currently I am listening to the soundtrack and love it. The music is not up there with Nobou Uematsu's work in the FinalFantasy games, but it's pretty catchy. I think the guy from Grandia 2 composed the music for Growlanser.
Yes, here I am fanboying. But it's a game I always wanted to play so I wanted to share this with you

PS: (Hey Ryan, you should check the artwork out, the boys are pretty fabulous in this game !)
